Tourism Ireland's biggest ever 'Global Greening'
In a major coup for tourism to the island of Ireland, over 70 iconic sites across the world went ‘green’ to mark St Patrick’s Day.
For the first time ever, an ancient wonder of the world – the Pyramids of Giza – and a modern wonder – the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro – went green, joining sites from Sydney to Stockholm, Cape Town to Moscow, London to Niagara Falls and San Francisco, in Tourism Ireland’s biggest ever annual ‘global greening’ initiative.
The ‘greening’ kicked off a major first-half marketing drive to grow overseas tourism in 2013.
Our thanks to contacts across the world including many Ambassadors and Embassy of Ireland teams, who worked with us to achieve this ‘stand-out’ for the island of Ireland and the destination.
