Graeme McDowell Tees Off for Tourism at US PGA Show

Golfing hero Graeme McDowell stopped off at the Tourism Ireland stand at this week’s PGA Golf Merchandise Show in Orlando to lend support for our 2014 promotional drive and to do his bit for golf tourism.

He joined golf and tourism operators from across the island of Ireland at the show - one of the biggest golf exhibitions in the US, attended by more than 40,000 golf professionals and around 1,000 influential golf media each year. It is an excellent platform to highlight the island of Ireland’s world-class golf.

Speaking at the stand, Alison Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland's head of North America, said: “We were delighted that Graeme McDowell took the time to drop by. The American golf market is a huge priority for us in 2014 and we will continue to promote actively and capitalise on the global success of our golfers including Graeme McDowell, Rory McIlroy, Pádraig Harrington, Darren Clarke and others. As well as promoting at events including the Barclays tournament and the Deutsche Bank Championship, we will be working with the popular Golf Channel online and with specialist golf publications to spread the good news about our great golfing experience.”

Tourism Ireland is rolling out an extensive programme of promotions in the important United States market right now, to build on the record number of American visitors to the island of Ireland in 2013.
