Dear industry colleague

The first half of 2011 has seen a welcome return to growth in overseas visitor numbers to the island in the order of +10% when compared with the same time last year.  This represents a positive start, even accounting for the poor weather and volcanic ash disruptions that characterised the early part of 2010.  Industry sentiment, while still mixed, generally reflects this more positive picture although the distribution of visitors is uneven and some areas have performed better than others.

Tourism Ireland’s autumn campaign is in full swing across all major markets.  With up to 30% of overseas tourism business coming in the period September to December, there is still a lot to play for.
